As we prepare to gather with family and friends for Thanksgiving, let us pause to reflect on the people and world around us. While most have recovered from the intensity of Hurricane Sandy, some still struggle with the lingering effects of the storm’s fury. In addition, our family and friends in Israel continue to face a combination of fear, anguish, destruction and grief as rockets fly overhead. Amidst the bounty for which we are all thankful, we remember all those who lives remain unsettled, both here and abroad. Our hearts and prayers go out to them, and we pray for continued healing at home, as well as for a lasting peace and the safety and security of the State of Israel, those who defend it, and all who dwell there.

If you would like to offer your support to the Hurricane Sandy relief effort, visit the URJ’s Hurricane Sandy Relief page to see what the URJ is doing and to make a donation.

Through the years, we have been fortunate to count many extraordinary Israeli staff members as part of our camp community. We know that your children have created meaningful relationships with our Israeli staff, and we encourage you to share your support for your Israeli friends by posting a personal message to our Eisner Facebook Page or Crane Lake Facebook Page. You can also visit the URJ’s Israel page to learn more about Operation Pillar of Defense, see how the Movement is supporting Israel, and donate to the Israel Terror Relief Fund.

We wish all the very best to you and your families this Thanksgiving holiday.
