Every summer, Crane Lake Camp is lucky to bring in 4 of the most adorable puppies for the campers and staff to care for and play with.  This summer is no different, with 2 boys and 2 girl puppies spending time at camp. They were purchased from a pet shop called ‘Shake’a’Paw’ in New York, making them all proper breeds. The puppies are all around 6 months old and have not been fixed. Because they are 6 months old, they are nearly full grown. Having come from a pet shop, the puppies didn’t know boundaries, such as what was inside and what was out. The Animal Specialists are working on their behavior, and they have trained them all not to run inside unless they are invited, and they are now working on stopping them from jumping up on people. All of the puppies are intelligent and will learn quickly.

Meet our puppies!

Daisy

D.O.B: 1/3/11

Daisy is a female, and her breed is a Pug crossed with a Beagle, also known as a Puggle. She is very friendly, never failing to meet every group of kids that come down to the Nature Shack. She has inherited the intelligence of a Beagle, and the energy of a Pug, so she would be best for a home with a nice big backyard. Puggles as a whole, are very sweet-tempered and playful. They are energetic, intelligent, and affectionate. A Puggle is a great companion and will bond with you quickly. Puggles like to be in close contact and will follow you around the house. She would be a great dog to take for runs, as her energy always matches yours. Daisy is very patient with children, and would love to go home with one of the many kids who come and play with her every day of the week!

Gracie

D.O.B: 2/7/11

Gracie is a female Yorkie-Poo. A Yorkie-Poo is a Yorkshire Terrier crossed with a Miniature Poodle. Her breed is hypoallergenic. She is very small, and would be very well suited for city life. She is very friendly, and although she may be timid in a new environment, she adjusts quickly and soon can’t get enough attention. You get the best of both worlds with Gracie, as she is energetic and playful but also loves to be picked up and cuddled. She is good to walk and has taken to walking on a leash well. She will have had plenty of practice by the end of the summer.

Oreo

D.O.B: 12/21/10

Oreo is a pure bred Boston Terrier. The Boston Terrier is a lively and highly intelligent breed with an excellent disposition. Oreo is a playful dog but is a bit shy. We are working on this over the summer, so hopefully he will be adjusted well by the end of summer. He is good to handle as he has a good temper and is patient with the children. He is getting better at walking on a leash, however he tends to get tired and prefers to be held or lie on somebody’s lap. He would be best suited in a home with a backyard.

Ollie

D.O.B: 1/30/11

Ollie is a Maltese – Shih Tzu cross, also known as a Mal-Shi. He is Hypoallergenic. Although he seemed timid at first, he also quickly came out of his shell, and comes to greet all the kids when they arrive. At first he was not good to walk on a leash, however he has improved and now happily goes for walks with the kids. He is a playful dog and also loves to be picked up and held. As a whole, grooming Mal-Shi dogs is extremely easy to manage for first-time dog owners. They don’t require fancy, specific cutting and they were specifically bred not to shed a lot. And another of their great qualities is how easy they are to train. Most Maltese Shih Tzus are quick learners who are eager to please so they pick things up extremely fast – including things like walking on a leash and potty training. Ollie is already very popular with the kids and would fit into a family very well.
