Lately there’s been a big fuss about Maccabia.  We’ve had two fake outs so far, and there’s been talk about when the next one will come.  The first fake out occurred after the Staff Show on Wednesday night.  The whole camp was in the Beit Am when Hilary (Athletics and Programming Team Leader) came in dressed in blue and white, and led everyone down to the Main Lawn, where Debby was waiting.  Unfortunately, we were told to go back to our bunks when Debby decided at the last minute not to hit the stump with the axe, which would have started Maccabia.

The next fake out was during Shabbat.  After the Birkat HaMazon at the end of all-camp lunch on the Main Lawn, they played Maccabia music (“Eye of the Tiger”) and we were told to go back to our bunks and see what was waiting inside.  On our beds we found Shabbat-o-grams, either white or blue, and they said to wait on our porch.  Then there was an announcement that told us to go to the lake.  At the lake there were torches, and some past generals told us that the time would come soon but the time was not now.

The fake outs were fun and exciting, but almost everybody knew that they were fake outs because Olim was soon leaving for Montreal.  Before they left, they decorated the camp in blue and white to get excited for the occasion.  Everybody in camp misses Olim already, and can’t wait for them to come back so Maccabia can begin!

1-2-3-4, we want Color War! 5-6-7-8, we don’t want to wait!
