Every week campers get to pick any activity they want to do on camp for one period a day. This year, Crane Lake is offering a wide range of activities for this Chugim, or hobby period.  One of the Chugim choices is balloon making with Ido, a general counselor from Israel.

In the balloon making Chugim, campers get to make all sorts of things like hats, parrots, dogs, hearts, swords and even camels. They use pumps to blow up the skinny balloons and Ido teaches them the art of twisting, folding and tying to create these awesome balloon figures.

A lot of the campers never thought they would be able to make such cool things, but Ido is a fantastic teacher sothey say it’s not as hard as it looks. While the balloons do sometimes pop, campers say they are easy to remake and remodel.

balloon1Ido learned how to make balloon animals while working as a hotel entertainer in Israel. Working at the hotel gave him a foundation to keep exploring the art. After watching numerous YouTube videos, Ido was able to expand his abilities to create almost anything out of balloons in just one year.

Ido says he loves to make balloon figures for a hobby and is constantly learning new things. The campers love balloon making and have lots of fun doing it!
