The lake at Crane Lake Camp is certainly a highlight for almost everyone who is a part of and has been a part of the CLC community. There are so many activities that the lake offers, it’s impossible to get tired of spending time near the water.

From sailing to canoeing, kayaking to waterskiing, tubing, wakeboarding, paddle boarding and climbing the inflatables, CLC campers love spending as much time as possible down at the lake.

Some special things that only the most experienced lake goers do include boating or swimming to the Nitz rock, the bat caves and secret lake.  While participating in activities at the lake comes easy to many, they also present a challenge to some.

Krissy, the head lifeguard at the lake, said that challenges are overcome each day at Crane Lake. Earlier this week, a Nitzanim girl came to the lake and did four laps for her swim test. Four laps allows for campers to swim only in the shallow water and nowhere else. The next time she came for lake period, she decided to get rechecked and swam all sixteen laps in order to be free to do any activity of her choosing.

“Its amazing to watch campers grow and try new things that might be scary,” Krissy said.

Just a few days ago, a Bonim camper was scared of going sailing because she thought the boat could potentially capsize. The camper decided the next time she came to lake, she would give it a try.

“She didn’t want to get in at first,” Krissy said. “But when she got in and actually tried sailing in the boat, she was all smiles when she came out.”

The lake presents numerous opportunities for campers to try new things. Every day someone experiences a first. Whether it’s the first time someone climbs the inflatables or paddles in a canoe, campers are constantly making memories at the lake.

“I like so see how proud campers get when they try something new,” Krissy said. “Because really, where else are they going to have the opportunity to waterski and go on sail boats and do all sorts of lake activities?”

This year all lake periods are double the time of other activities to allow for campers to have half the time for instruction as well as half the time for free play. The extended period means more time to do fun things.

“There’s no time to get bored down here,” Krissy said. “There’s always time to play.”

With 12 incredible, fun, patient, knowledgeable and motivating lifeguards, the lake has never been a more exciting place to be!
