Trip day is always a day to look forward to while at camp. It’s a day to experience things outside the Crane Lake bubble with summer friends. This past week Crane Lake sent out four different trips.

lower-chavNitzanim went to the amusement park, Lake Compounce for roller coaster fun and water park splashes. For some, it was a day of first times on roller coaster rides and for others it was a day of crazy fun with friends.  There was lots of yummy food and candy eaten all day long.

Bonim rode their socks off on all the rides at Six Flags and got a little wet too in the water park. There were tons of rides that fit everyone’s comfort level. Bonim got lucky with few waiting lines and more time to ride as many rides as they wanted. For campers who didn’t want to go on coasters, Six Flags had awesome games to play throughout the park. The prizes were as big as some of the campers!

Lower Chaverim traveled to Boston for some historic education, comedic laughs and shopping. They toured the Boston Museum of Science, took a duck tour around the waters of Boston, and saw some wet wildlife at the Boston Aquarium. At night Lower Chav saw an improvisation comedy show called Sheer Madness. The second day Lower Chav visited the JFK Library to learn more about the history of America, went to Fenway Park for a tour, shopped at Quincy Market and roller-skated at night.

upper-chavUpper Chaverim went to New York City to see some classic sights and experience city life. The trip started at a food bank in New Jersey where campers and staff volunteered by packing pasta bags and sorting food items. Then off to the big city they went to see the Statue of Liberty, eat at the famous Stardust Diner and watch Matilda on Broadway. The second day Upper Chav visited the Bronx zoo, went shopping and finished the night off by watching Back to the Future as the sun set on the pier off the Hudson.

olimOlim had a four-day long trip to Lake Placid, Montreal and Vermont. They toured the Olympic park in Lake Placid and got the full experience by going up to the top of the ski jumps, played in a mock biathlon and did some summer luge practice. That night they headed up to Montreal to get a good nights rest before the ever-exciting jet boating and shopping in Old Montreal. Olim got their amusement fix at La Ronde where they rode roller coasters until the sunset. On the third day they visited the Biodome and saw animals in all their natural habitats from around the world. Shopping, ice skating and laser tag brought the day to an end before Olim returned to the U.S to go to Vermont. In Vermont, Olim went to Ben & Jerry’s and ate their hearts out ordering Vermonsters, 20 scoops of ice cream with tons of toppings and more. The trip finished off in Burlington for a little shopping and relaxing on Church Street, then back to CLC where the whole camp community will be reunited again.
