“MON-TRE-Al MONTREAL!” That’s the cheer the Olim campers chanted days before they boarded the bus. On Monday, the 71 campers and their counselors left the CLC bubble and headed to Lake Placid, famous for its Olympic training center. There, the kids got to experience pavement luging. They also did some paintball target practice as if they were Olympic athletes themselves. From there, we crossed the border into Canada. The following days were filled with jet boating, ice-skating, laser tagging, shopping but most importantly bonding. On the way back to camp we stopped at the Ben and Jerry’s ice cream factory where many campers took on the Vermonster Challenge. By the time we left Burlington, Vermont for camp, Olim became a unified family. As their counselor, I saw them grow so much over those 4 days. They lifted each other up and I am so proud of the people they are. And it all started with a little cheer.
