Trip day is always a great day filled with laughter and excitement. It is an awesome opportunity for campers to spend time with their closest friends outside of the Crane Lake bubble. This week Nitzanim, Bonim, Lower Chaverim and Upper Chaverim went off on four different trips.

Lindsey-1024x682Nitzanim went to Lake Compounce where they enjoyed roller coaster excitement and water park fun!  “My favorite part was going on roller coasters, especially the zoomerang,”said Aaron J. from bunk 27. Some campers went on roller coasters while other enjoyed the water park. For campers who didn’t want to do either, the day was filled with games and winning stuffed animals. “My favorite part of Lake Compounce was the water rides because they were super fast and also the games were super cool and there were cool prizes,” remarked Maia M. from bunk Garden View South/East.

Campers went on rides that moved faster than they could say, “this is awesome”. “My favorite part of Six Flags was the water rides, especially the tornado,” said Zach Z. from bunk LVW. “I really liked the water slides,” added Anya G. from bunk 8. The day was packed with fun, food and candy. Some campers even came back with some new furry stuffed animal friends!

Tuesday morning Lower Chaverim headed to Boston for an action packed trip. Their first stop was Fenway Park where they got a tour of the stadium and got to go on the Green Monster. After Fenway Park, they went to the New England Aquarium, shopped at Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market. They ended the first day with an improv comedy show, Shear Madness. “My favorite parts of the Boston trip were the aquarium and Shear Madness,” said Noa D. from bunk 9. “I liked Shear Madness because it was interactive and the acting was well done,” remarked Benjamin O. from bunk 22. Day two Lower Chaverim went to the Museum of Science and on the duck boat tours. On the duck boat tour campers were able to see all different areas of Boston and they even got a chance to drive the boat! The whole trip ended with shopping and eating in Harvard Square.

Although everyone was exhausted from the early wake up, when they arrived at the Community Food Bank of New Jersey they were energized and ready to give back. At the food bank, campers and staff helped separate and organize food and other various items. From there they set off to Liberty Landing where they boarded the ferry to the Statue of Liberty. Despite the rainy weather, the Statue of Liberty was an amazing site to see up close. After the Statue of Liberty, they ate dinner at the famous Ellen’s Stardust Diner. They concluded the evening by seeing Finding Neverland, which was phenomenal. “My favorite part of the trip was seeing the Broadway play because I’ve never seen a Screen-Shot-2015-07-16-at-2.37.32-PMBroadway show in New York City before,” said Gabriella C. from bunk 14. Hannah G. from bunk 16 said, ” I had a really good time and really enjoyed the show especially because Matthew Morrison was in it who I love”. Luckily, the weather held up for Wednesday as they headed to the Bronx Zoo. After the zoo they went to Chelsea’s Market and the high line. Before the trip was over, they went to the Barrow Group Theatre to see the National Comedy Theater. “I enjoyed the comedy show because it was better than the Fountains of Wayne concert,” said Caleb S. from bunk 25. “Even though I’ve lived in New York City my whole life it was still fun to be there with my camp friends and show them around my neighborhood,” said Megan S. from bunk 14. The trip was one for the history books full of fond memories and laughs. “The best part of the trip was spending time with my friends in a new place,” added Andy S. from bunk 24.

First Session’s trip day was a huge success for all units!
