The smell of the BBQ sauce permeates your nostrils. The sound of the country music is heard all throughout the dining hall. The ribs feel messy and greasy but they taste oh so yummy. All of the senses are awakened on this night, Rib night. A long time camp tradition, rib night is a time for the whole camp community to gather together in their best country attire and can sing along to their favorite country tunes while chowing down on a delicious spread of ribs, cornbread and veggies. There’s even a delicious apple pie for dessert! One Nitzanim camper exclaimed, “the rib is my favorite part of the cow” while an Olim camper said, “These are the best ribs I’ve ever had. I can even see the smoke ring from the hours of cooking.” It’s clear that rib night is a camp favorite and will be a tradition that will continue for years to come.
