For the first session play, Crane Lake campers put on Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Campers entered the rec hall with huge smiles, loud chants and high anticipation.

Auditions were held for the play at the beginning of the session and the cast rehearsed every day, even sometimes twice a day, for the last four weeks. Campers worked hard during free play, rest hour and any other time they got to practice. The actors and actresses put on two performances, one for lower camp and one for upper camp. Usually campers are standing up left and right to use the bathroom but the cast kept the audience so engaged for the full duration of the show that no one was really moving around.

Highlights included Sam singing “Any Dream Will Do” and Abby singing “Poor, Poor Pharaoh”. Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat was definitely a fan favorite. You could feel the Crane Lake spirit in all the singing, dancing and acting.
