Here’s an update on the first week of second session from our Unit Heads!

Nitzanim and Olim
As we approach the first Shabbat of second session, Nitzanim and Olim campers and staff are enjoying spending time together as buddies. From Gold Rush around camp, to making our own Grass Heads to take home, making connections across the age group is an important tradition at Crane Lake Camp. As Unit Heads, we are just as excited for our campers to make memories, as we are to help create them. Second session carries a different energy and urgency that propels unit cheers and full camp pride. Although we work with the polar opposite age groups, the goal is the same: enable campers to find their full stride in a supportive, Jewish environment. Here’s to a great second session 2015!

The sun has been shining almost every single day; the smiles have been all around camp in every way. So far this session we have had evening programs from campfire sleepovers to scavenger hunts. We have been kept so busy that time has flown by its hard to believe it has been a week already. I can’t wait to see what the next week brings, probably even more excitement like trip day to six flags.

First week of second session has been an emotional roller coaster. We have said goodbye to our first session campers and welcomed our second session campers. As well as that, Lower Chaverim led the Friday night service this week. The Jewish value of the week was curiosity and everyone played a roll in talking about curiosity either through singing or giving a speech. Trip day planning has also started as Lower Chav prepares to go to Ramblewild. The campers are incredibly excited for this trip and I’m sure there will be plenty of pictures and stories from the trip that will be shared. A final point to mention is that there are numerous tournaments coming up and this weekend there are try outs for an 8th grade tennis tournament!

I just wanted to tell you about the phenomenal first week of second session we’ve had here in Upper Chaverim. Opening day went super smoothly, we had some bunk time to get to know our family for the upcoming session, some unit time to bond and ended with an evening program led by me. This was very hot and we had only one rainy day. Our awesome campers participated in soccer, tennis and baseball tournaments. We had a variety of special programs; from arts, sports, dance, dodge ball tournament and all the way to an Israeli army training. We combined fun, joy, friendships and laughter with values and education. I’m looking forwards to writing to you again next week and sharing some more great memories, programs and unforgettable experiences. Shavua Tov – Have an amazing week!
