Hello! My name is Rotem, I’m 23 years old from Shoham, Israel. I’ve been in the Israeli Scouts since I was 10, and later also became a counselor. I served in the Israeli Defense Forces for 3 years as a paramedic, which was tough but rewarding. I was discharged 7 months ago. Now I’m a counselor and Israeli Scout at CLC – it is a very unique experience for me and I’m looking forward to the rest of summer here!

Screen-Shot-2015-08-02-at-6.40.08-PMHi! My name is Adi Zilberstein. I live in Ramat Ha Sharon, Israel. I am currently going into my senior year of high school. I attend a performing arts school where I am a dance major. In my free time I enjoy dancing and being a part of the Tzofim. I am a second year counselor in Tzofim. I came to Crane Lake Camp to represent Israel!

Tzofim is the Hebrew-speaking scouts. It is offered to any child in 4th to 12th grade as an after school activity that gives you life skills and morals. Freshman year of high school is your counselor in training summer. Sophomore year is your first year as a counselor and junior year is your second year as a counselor. Instead of being a second year counselor your junior year, you can apply to have a position similar to being a unit head at camp. Your senior year of high school you can apply to higher positions. From the time you start to the time you finish you will gain a great deal of responsibility and new knowledge. A majority of students in Israel participate in the Tzofim.

The Tzofim came to camp to represent Israel and the lifestyle we have growing up. At camp, the Tzofim counselors are general counselors and are also apart of the Mishlachat. On top of being a general counselor, we run a fun chugim at the old teva area. This chugim period consists of a lot of games, activities, and learning new skills. In addition to the chugim period, we have many things planned for camp this summer that we cannot wait to share with everyone!

The Tzofim is very similar to camp. Many of the positions in the Tzofim are similar to positions on camp. A main difference is that the Tzofim is only run by 10th to 12th graders who literally do everything. I really enjoy the Tzofim and I am glad I get the opportunity to spend the summer in the Crane Lake bubble.
