“The swim instructors really know what they are doing when it comes to teaching swim lessons; it’s more than “kick this way” or “move your arm this way”. Each instructor is built for the levels they are teaching. For example, Ross swims with Olympic swimmers so he teaches the highest level. Darcy is great with campers who are terrified to go in the water and she really encourages them to try and give it their best shot. Each instructor is able to show off their strengths with the level of instruction they teach. The instructor has the ability to choose what they will be doing for the lesson each day. The lessons are often repetitive in skill because it is important to perfect the technique. Our instructors work hard to make sure every camper leaves each lesson a stronger swimmer than when they first entered the pool.” – Pele Sichula, Pool Director

“At Crane Lake, instructional swim is not only about instructing, it’s also about making it fun and motivating the campers so they want to learn. It is important to include campers in the lesson by asking them questions and having them demonstrate techniques rather than just making them swim lap after lap. We have them make group cheers that are heard in and out of the pool. What makes Crane Lake lessons unique is that we have instructors from many different countries and backgrounds that bring diversity to the lesson.” – Caroline Vestbjerg, Swimming Instructor
