A poem by Darcy Golding, Camper Care Assistant
I am here,
I can hear
the sounds of camp
around me.
We are here
with so many faces
old and new
surrounding you
ten months for two
ready for adventures galore.
and we shall cry
but in this place
we love to thrive.
I am here.

This year is Darcy’s fourth year at Crane Lake Camp! Her first year she was a general counselor and in her second and third year she was a swim instructor. She is from London, England and has just completed her BA (Hons) in English Literature and Creative Writing at Nottingham Trent University and hopes to return to university after a gap year to pursue a career in teaching. During the year she volunteers for Camp America – an agency which provides people like herself with the summer of a lifetime and to help other people experience the wonderful world that is life at camp.
