As we finished the evening announcements, the lights went off in the Chadar Ochel, and everyone knew it was time. Mini Macc 2016 was here. It was clear, Mini Maccabiah’s theme was going to be as epic as ever, Star Wars!
Led by our mighty Machon, our campers were led out of the Chadar Ochel to the football field, where they were given magic cups! Each cup had a camper name on them, and a bucket of ice. When they filled their cups, they changed to the color of their Mini Macc team!
Red Rey
Yellow Chewbacca
Blue R2D2
Green Yoda
With so much excitement, they walked back to the Chadar and immediately sat by their teams. With cheers and beaming faces, the Mini Macc Coaches were ushered into the room in disguises. As each coach was announced, their were tears of joy and proud friends everywhere.
Red Rey Coaches: Jacob Friedman and Carly Haber
Yellow Chewbacca Coaches: Ali Sadowski and Daniel Benaroya
Green Yoda Coaches: Stella Raffle-Wax and Ben Stein
Blue R2D2 Coaches: Jake Rudolph and Arielle Landau
And with that, the competition began!
There were so many awesome events! Wednesday morning started with a Saber Search, where each team, with campers from each unit, searched far and wide, all over camp, for clues on how to find their team’s saber! With a dance party rocking on the main lawn, the intensity was in full force!
The rest of the day, the campers dazzled while participating in these activities, by color and by unit!
Boating Regatta
Gaga
Basketball
Dodgeball
Soccer
Volleyball
Tennis
Track Meet
There was even an added event this year, a team skit! Green Yoda’s skit was a camp directors’ meeting with adorable impressions of leadership team and the coaches who were chosen for Mini Macc. Red Rey’s skit involved Darth Vader taking over the Chadar Ochel and Rey saving the day! Blue R2D2 gave everyone a tour of all the locations around camp, and Yellow Chewbacca’s skit had a camp directors’ meeting to decide the theme of Mini Macc. It was a great new element and Green took the event!
After a silent dinner, our teams went to the soccer field for a camp favorite: TUG OF WAR! With teamwork and ruach, everyone pulled as hard as they could!
It was a very exciting evening, and the points were very close.
The placing was as follows!
In fourth place, Blue R2D2!
In third place, Yellow Chewbacca!
In second place, Red Rey!
And our Mini Macc 2016 winners, Green Yoda!
What an amazing Crane Lake day we had, and as always, May the Mini Macc Be With You!
