This blog post was originally read by a representative from Olim 2020 during their Shabbat service this week, the theme of which was “Open hearts, open hands.” Watch our video of Lower Chaverim enjoying their gift to camp!

Celebrating our camp friends’ bar and bat mitzvahs is very special.  All year, we have been traveling all over the Northeast to celebrate one another’s accomplishments, and each one turns into a mini camp reunion! Last year, Olim 2019 came up with an idea to make these celebrations even more meaningful. Instead of giving one another gifts, the b’nai mitzvah class could pool their gifts and make one big donation to camp. We as Olim 2020 loved their idea and made it into a tradition.

This year, Lower Chaverim donated enough money to build the special “Crane Lake” element on the second level of the ropes course. Each time we go on the high ropes course, we will know that we have given back to this place that means so much to us and that our legacy is a part of Crane Lake.  We are proud to inspire each generation of campers to challenge themselves to literally reach to new heights. And we are proud to start a tradition of making an impact on camp through this meaningful milestone in our lives.
