Crane Lake feels small. Not in a “this t-shirt doesn’t fit me anymore but I’m still trying really hard to wear it” way. More in an “I’m being enveloped in a tight hug and maybe I’m trapped under your armpit but it feels warm and safe here” kind of way.
I’m new here. And new is scary, nerve racking, and anxiety inducing. But new can be fun. New can be exciting. New can be good. I’m happy to be here now.
In just a couple of weeks, camp will be full of new, younger faces. Some who have been coming here for years, and some, like me, will be coming through the red gates for the first time. I hope they are all able to feel the same feeling of support that I have been able to find here.
